Liforme Purple Earth Mats has been created with an earthy purple hue to honour our dedication to the Earth and its inhabitants. This colour is partly inspired by the 'Purple Earth Theory' which reflects scientists' belief that Early Earth was purple before it was green due to the different way the sun's energy was harnessed.
According to the 'Purple Earth Theory', way back before us humans came along, early planet Earth may have looked purple rather than green. Scientists have hypothesized that instead of chlorophyll, primeval organisms used something called ‘retinal’ to process energy from the sun. While chlorophyll is responsible for the green colour of today’s plants, retinal gives off a purple hue. So actually, purple is not really the new green. It’s more like the old green. Who knew, right?
As it happens, a purple Earth would not actually have been habitable by humans, and so for the record we would point out that as the protectors of this incredible planet, our efforts should indeed be to keep our home as green as possible!
We really hope you like it!
Throughout the design process we've consulted and gathered inspiration from some of the best Yogis in the Yoga cosmos.
We all love Yoga at Liforme and we all want to give you a quality product to help further your Yoga practice.
Perfectionist is a conservative term for us.
We're exacting from start to finish and we are confident the Liforme Yoga and Travel Mats are as good as it gets.
Our updated, unique AlignForMe System works as a navigational tool for your Yoga asana practice. No more will you have to flounder around, wondering what should go where, or guessing if you're in alignment.
Our system is unique. The combination of intelligent markers gives you as much, or as little, guidance as you need.
Patanjali nailed it when he said: "Sthira Sukham Asanam" (Asana is a steady comfortable posture).
One of the most important functions of a Yoga mat is to provide grip. Slipping around can make your practice ineffective, or even dangerous.
We took all of this to heart, when we scoured the planet for the best possible materials for our Liforme Mats.
We believe our revolutionary "GripForMe" material is the grippiest Yoga mat material currently available on earth. And it stays grippy even when 'sweaty wet'.
Feeling is believing. GripForMe.
We don't know about you, but in some postures our bony bits dig into the floor and it doesn't feel good. These areas (knees and hips, for instance) should be protected, we think.
Our Liforme Yoga Mat: Purple Earth has a strong natural rubber base. We've added a cushioned felt portion in between that and the top layer of the mat which provides a deep cushioned and yet very solid and stable practising surface. We’ve also made our Liforme Yoga Mat wider and longer than most standard size mats, to give us that little bit of extra room and to make it accessible for Yogis of all shapes and sizes!
For those Yogis on the go, we knew that you wanted a mat that is light and really easy to carry around. You asked us often enough! The Liforme Travel Mat: Purple Earth focuses on lightness and portability whilst retaining all the technology that’s packed into the Liforme Yoga Mat. We think we’ve got the balance just right, and we’re excited to share it with you.
We believe in being as 'planet friendly' as possible. Who doesn't these days? Well, sadly a few companies are still in the dark ages. We're not though, thankfully.
We've also taken a moment to think about your physical wellbeing and have used the most 'body kind' materials and processes that we could, in engineering and making the Liforme Yoga and Travel Mats.
We've used naturally sourced sustainable rubber for the bulk of the mat.
We've etched the AlignForMe markers on the mat instead of printing with potentially harmful inks.
We've also used a revolutionary heat-bonding process that eliminates the need for toxic glues to bind the top layer to the base layer.
Our mat is PVC-free so it doesn't contain any nasty 'heavy metals' such as lead and cadmium.
